Bow Valley College is located in the heart of downtown Calgary, one of the biggest cities in Canada. With almost a quarter of Calgary population being foreign-born, you will feel at home in this cosmopolitan and diverse city.
Features
International students who complete eligible programs at Bow Valley College may apply for a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP), which allows them to work in Canada for up to three years. To qualify, students must complete a full-time program that is at least eight months long. After graduation, students receive a completion letter and transcript from the college, which are needed to apply for the PGWP. This permit gives graduates valuable Canadian work experience and may support future immigration opportunities.
If your program includes a work experience/practicum/field placement/clinical/preceptorship, it is strongly recommended to apply for Co-Op work permit at the same time as you apply for your initial study permit.
If your program includes a work experience/practicum/field placement/clinical/preceptorship and you are working in a health related field or working with children, you need to get a medical exam done by a designated physician.
You must hold a valid Co-Op permit before you start your practicum. We suggest applying several months before your start date. Check processing timelines.
International students at Bow Valley College can work both on-campus and off-campus while studying, provided they hold a valid study permit. On-campus jobs may include roles in the cafeteria, bookstore, or student services. Students can work up to 24 hours per week during academic sessions and full-time during scheduled breaks. For programs with mandatory internships or practicums, a separate co-op work permit may be required. A Social Insurance Number (SIN) is essential to begin working in Canada.
